AGA Rated Open Go Tournament

Fee: $15 + AGA membership or rating fee

This Sunday, we're having our usual monthly rating tournament -- but not as usual! We're doing things a little differently this time:

Prizes instead of pizza: We know some of you have enjoyed the free pizza we have been serving for lunch at our events. We also think that all of you like money! So this time, in lieu of donuts and pizza, we're offering $100 in cash prizes -- $50 for first place, $25 each for second and third. And we hope you enjoy the opportunity to explore our neighborhood's many great lunch hangouts, such as Zipburger (down the block a few hundred yards) and -- no kidding -- "Go Sushi" on the corner. If neither of these appeals there are literally dozens of places within four blocks of the Center.

We're also happy to tell you that Christopher Vu will direct. Those of you who have played in Christopher's events know you can count on on-time rounds, good pairings and a generally well-run event that should finish by 7 PM. AGA membership is required for this AGA-rated tournament; renewal available at the door, and first-timers get a 50% discount because we're an AGA Chapter.

If you enjoyed the self-pairing format we tried last month, don't worry, it will be back, but this month we're going back to formal pairings.

Registration is $15; if four rounds of hot-blooded competition isn't enough feel free to stay and play afterward. In addition to cash prizes listed above, everyone else who plays all four rounds and wins three games gets a prize from our freshly re-stocked bookstore. Bring your laptop; we're wireless, remember? Weather permitting, if both players agree, you can play outside in our garden -- if there's a better way to spend a summer day, we haven't thought of it . . .If you're planning to come please let Christopher know with an e-mail message to eternalesnow@gmail.com.
